B-sides and Rarities

OKAY! Month of October! Let us start with the road trip to CA we took with Mitchell's sister and brother-in-law Stephanie and Alex. The main goal of this trip was to go to our good friend Stevo's missionary farewell. And maybe a little bit to go to the beach.

The next weekend I was off
to Vegas for a wedding (no, really) turned girl's trip. It's possible I
won almost an entire dollar playing the penny slots. Mitchell stayed home this trip and pretended not to miss me desperately.

The next two weekends we proved our redneck status by A) Heading to the state fair with the sole purpose of seeing the Demolition Derby. That's right folks, the cars CRASH IN TO EACHOTHER ON PURPOSE. (How could anyone not love this?)

AND 2) we humiliated both our dog and ourselves by forcing him into a hot dog costume for Halloween.
Wish you all could have seen him chase his tail in this. Totally worth it the 7 bucks.

XOXO

We had quite the eventful weekend. Whilst the parents were in Cali for the Race for the Cure, we sat on the baby Chikin (also known as my 15 year old brother, Blake). We noticed something weird going on with Fender's eye, the inner corner was swelling and very pink. I would post a pic but it was gross. Turns out it was Cherry eye which, although common in dogs, I had never heard of. The options were: A) $700 surgery, or 2) a do-it-yourself fix via doglover9's video post. Apparently you just shut their eye and rub it till it pops back in. I should be a vet. Good as new, underbite still in tact. On another note, Mitchell received his first scorpion sting, hence the very sad face. Worst pain of his life...baby.

To make up for all that sadness, I had some great luck at the local thrift store with this little number. (I wore it to church AND to work the next day, shhh...) I originally intended to alter it to make it stylish just like my inspiration Marissa from newdressaday.com, but it ended up being perfect as is.

And there you have it folks. As always, it was a pleasure.

Summer time

I never thought this day would come. I, Leanne Katherine Smith Brown graduated from college. (Sort of). Pending my passing a Genetics summer school class I am an official ASU alum.

Right after graduation we headed out to DC for Miluska's graduation. Well, for that and to see
cute babies and play Boggle. Besides a few stitches in the Smasher's nose, the trip was a total success. We got to see all the monuments, the Library of Congress, and plethora of museums. There may have also been some dancing to Miley Cyrus for music video purposes.

Since then we took another trip. This time to my Aunt Karrie's cabin in Greer. The weather was beautiful and we enjoyed some relaxing puzzle times and even went on a hike. For Fender's first vacation it went verrrry well. He loved being in the forest and hiked like a champion. Hopefully someday we can give him at least a yard to play in.

I take it back

What I said about not getting a dog for a while? Scratch that. Fender Brown is the newest (and first) edition to this family of ours. He's been tons of fun and even more hard work. I seriously considered buying him some diapers today. He seems to be learning pretty fast though, and attracts dog-lovers from miles around. Seriously, you can't take him anywhere without someone squealing about the cute puppy. Even Mitchell loves this dog...and that's saying something.

Home alone

For my first official blog post on my first official blog, I would like to start out with a complaint... about my husband (of 4 months and 4 days). It goes something like this: I can't get enough of him. Which makes nights like this, when it's past midnight and he's been at the studio doing what he loves all night and I'm at home alone avoiding homework and failing at 1000 piece puzzles-pretty sad. On the plus side, if this keeps up it has been agreed upon that I can have a puppy to keep me company despite Mitchell's hatred for all things furry (and smelly). I've decided not to hold my breath though since we live in a second floor apartment and are both gone all day. Dogs need yards, and people with time to feed and bathe them. Someday...someday.
